    Description

    SAMUAL T. BARNES,1847-1926 Havre de Grace Md. Rare cork model with wood bottom board and pine head. Sam Barnes was to first to use cork for his decoys  on the Susquehanna flats and this was done late in his carving career (1920) Paint eyes and the orginal rigging is all there.  Orginal paint with some loss of cork which is to be expected for a decoy with that much use.  See Fleckenstines book "Decoys of the Mid-Altantic Region"  Page 98 for a picture of its rig-mate.
